OAKLAND – The Rise of Khalsa a forty three minute documentay based on the Khalsa panth was screened at Fremont Sikh Temple and El Sobrante Sikh Temple last week. It received acclaim from the viewing audience at both screenings.
The audience congratulated the director of the film Jagmeet Samundri for making such a professional documentary on Sikhism.
Although it’s a documentary film, it tells the story in a very entertaining manner while educating the audience. The film also presents the great art of Gatka in detail. It educates the viewer about the technicalities of Gatka along with breathtaking sequences from Holla Mohalla festival at Anandpur Sahib. The brilliance of the photography of this film has been greatly appreciated by audiences.
The film will also be screened in Sacramento at the West Sacramento Gurdwara on Sept. 17 at 8:15pm, in Bakersfield at Guru Angad Darbar Gurdwara on Sept. 20 at 8:15pm, in Bakersfield at Gurdwara Wilson Road on Sept. 21 at 12:30pm, and in Sacramento at the Bradshaw Gurdwara on Sept. 27 at 8:15pm.
